Eduardo José Varela Bravo earned his PhD at the University of Seville in 1987 and was appointed to a position as Senior Lecturer in English at the University of Vigo in 1992. He is a member of the group Methods and Materials for the Teaching and Acquisition of Foreign Languages (MMTAFL) integrated in the English Linguistics Circle research network (ELC).
At present he teaches courses at graduate and postgraduate level at the School of Philology and Translation, University of Vigo.
His research interests lie in the fields of Pragmatics, Textual Analysis and Formal and Informal Learning Methods. Current work on humour online and on textual and cultural deviance.
