Esperanza Rama-Martínez graduated in English Philology from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 1990. She holds an MA in Discourse Studies for Language Teaching and Learning from the University of Liverpool (1991) and a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Santiago de Compostela (2001).
She has mainly lectured on English phonetics and phonology and discourse analysis at undergraduate level and on applied conversation analysis at postgraduate level. Her main research interests concentrate on the interactional organization of broadcast talk, historical courtroom discourse as developed from the Late Modern English period onwards, and prosody.
